What a joyous time. My two boys have brought new life into Christmas and I have savoured the day watching Jack's bright eyes and listening to little Hudson's sweet coo's. I head into the new year excited about what's to come and hoping time stands still long enough for me to truly remember what a lucky girl I am.
Jackson woke up sick this morning, which was disappointing because he had his heart set on seeing a bit of the Santa Clause Parade. He insisted he was well enough to go and then at the last minute looked at me and told me he needed to stay home. I felt bad for the little guy so I busted out this cheap pre-baked gingerbread house and we spent some time decorating it. He was pleased.
Today is my birthday. The day is almost done, but oh, was it nice. A day off work, lunch with a dear friend, some time on my own, Chinese take-out with my family, a few presents from some wonderful people and now I am ready for bed. 32 years since I came into this world. I have been given so much already and I can't wait to see whats in store.
We had our 'official' Christmas dinner on Saturday because the snow on Thursday didn't allow us to pick my grandma up. Everyone gathered at our house for dinner, where I attempted to cook turkey. It was my 1st time doing it on my own and I must say, I didn't love the experience, but the outcome was good.
There were a few highlights from the evening. The 1st one I didn't get a picture of, because of the emergency factor, but we had a small fire. My aunt brought me a little present and as I was opening it the tissue paper hit a candle. I have never seen flames grow so quickly. My uncle Maurice and brother Kris were quick thinking and patted the flamed out with my apron, but it was scary.
The other highlight was more pleasant...for Jack anyway. My grandma brought him this...
It was a very successful, fun night. Look forward to next year.
This morning we woke up to snow and a few exciting presents.
We had a glitch in our plans due to the snow, so our 'official' Christmas is going to be held this Saturday. We couldn't get out to New Westminster to pick up my grandma, so instead we headed over to my mom and dad's for dinner.
Hope you all had a very happy holiday!
