We have had such a fun weekend. Outside for most of it. Enjoyed with family and friends. It has reminded me of what summer is all about and I can't wait!
On Friday Jackson and I went to my doctor's appointment and heard our baby's heartbeat. Such a strong, powerful sound. Sent shivers through my body. Then we met up with our buddies Maria and Liam for a fun afternoon.
Saturday was spent out in Steveston with my parents. We enjoyed looking at the fishing boats, eating a few french fries and making a quick stop in the toy shop. We bought some shrimp off the boats and came back to our place, where I made a yummy pasta.
Today we went to Second Beach in Stanley Park. Jackson loves the playground there. We relaxed on a blanket, played soccer (as Jack likes to call it) and had lunch. It was relaxing. Then we came home all the whole house had a 3 hour nap. Ahhhh...living is good!
Hope your weekend was spent doing fun things!
I have missed quite a few 'fun fridays' over the last few months, so I am thinking I will just post them when I can and stop feeling guilty that I haven't written anything. This Friday was really nice, both because of the weather and because my husband, Tim, had the day off work.
We decided to take the False Creek Ferry over to Granville Island. Jackson just loved the ride.
Once there, we did a little shopping and had a nice lunch.
We took the boat back over to our side and enjoyed a walk along the seawall. Jackson walked the longest walk to date. I couldn't believe he made it that far. Maybe it was the donut holes we bought on the island that kept those little legs moving!
We came home and Jack had a 3 hour nap. Poor guy was worn out. I went out in the evening with a good friend for dinner and a little shopping. I came home empty handed. All the better for when I head down for some cross border shopping with my mom and Sunday.
Hope you enjoy your weekend!
Well, I must tell you...I am starting to feel like my old self again. The morning sickness seems to be passing. Yah!!! I have the odd moment, but NOTHING like before. I am so happy. Thank goodness because this weekend was all about food.
On Friday night I went out to eat with a few friends. We went shopping for my friend's wedding shoes and then ate dinner at the Italian Kitchen. They have the best calamari! It was an evening of great conversation and delicious food.
Yesterday was a 'date night' for Tim and I. My parents, very kindly, try to take Jackson for a sleepover once a month so we get the chance to do something. We were huge fans of a little neighbourhood place called the Parkside and were disappointed to hear the owner was changing it to a different restaurant. We wanted to give it a try so we made reservations and headed over. L'Altro Buca. Oh my, was it ever good. We went all out and had such a lovely evening. I can't wait to go back again.
Today was breakfast out before Jackson returned and then a quick grocery shop. We spent the afternoon relaxing and then I made chicken noodle soup for dinner.
I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to be able to eat again. I have so missed good food. Hope you all had a good weekend.
What a nice day I had. Rain is in the forecast for the weekend, so I wanted to take full advantage of the dry weather. Jack and I headed out to the park for the morning. We are sure lucky Stanley Park is at our doorstep.
We spent the afternoon napping and relaxing at home. Then I went out for dinner with a new friend. We went to the Wild Garlic Bistro, which is so close to where I live but had never tried it before. It was delicious. I won't be getting to close to Tim after eating that much garlic! My friend and I had a lovely few hours together. Looking forward to it again. It was a great start to the weekend.
Call me the 'camera loser' again. A pictureless 'fun friday' sucks. I am sorry. It was a Friday I was really looking forward to. Jack and I hung out together in the morning and then my parents picked him up for a sleepover around noon. I met my friend Maria for lunch, which was so nice since we haven't seen each other in awhile. We were childless and able to catch up without being distracted.
After lunch I wandered a bit. Checked out a few stores and read a magazine in the bookstore. I sat at Starbuck's and had a drink while waiting for Tim to meet me. It was a date night! We headed over to the 5th Avenue Theatre and saw Slumdog Millionaire. As I am sure many of you already know, it was a fantastic movie. After that we came back downtown and went to one of our favourite neighbourhood restaurants, Tapastree. As always, the food was delicious.
A really lovely 'fun friday'. Of course I missed Jack terribly, but it was nice for Tim and I to get time together.
I know I have missed a few Fridays, so I am going to start where I left off. This was a very special "fun friday". Jackson went for a sleepover at my parent's so Tim and I could enjoy an evening out. We realized we hadn't had a night to ourselves since March. We decided to go out for Dine Out Vancouver and made a reservation at Italian Kitchen. We ended up not eating the Dine Out menu, but instead ordered off the regular menu. It was so delicious. I can't wait to go back again.
Our plan was to go see a movie after dinner, but we had so much time to kill in between that we decided to go for a cocktail instead. We went to the lounge at the Vancouver Hotel and had a martini while listening to the live singer.
It was a really lovely evening and Tim and I both agreed we need to have more nights spent with just the two of us. I look forward to next time. I must admit I really missed Jack. Makes me feel happy he has such a great time with his Nana and Papa.
We just had to get out today, snow or no snow. My brother Kris, Jackson and I bundled up and headed out on a mission to find some boots. We didn't even get past the sidewalk outside our building because the stroller couldn't get through the snow. We opted for the Ergo carrier. I hadn't carried Jack on my back in ages and boy, was he heavy.
We were on a mission to find Hunter boots so we ended up over on 4th Ave. were we found them in men's at Ray Rickburn. Kris wasn't certain he wanted to spend the money on a pair of boots that he wouldn't be able to wear at home, so we went to check out Gravity Pope, were I walked out with these...
...and Kris got these...
I them lugged Jackson home, where we played, relaxed and stayed warm.
(I like this one. A moment with dad.)
